Role of Chaplaincy
The Balwyn High School full time Chaplain position plays an important role within the Student Services team. The Chaplain's role in providing pastoral care and counselling support extends beyond the student cohort, to families, staff and the wider school community.
Chaplaincy services within the school are provided in part by Access Ministries and through the volunteer work of the Chaplaincy committee. Representatives from local churches, staff and school parents make up a committee which supports the Chaplain through personal and prayer support; helping raise awareness and funds through promotion within the school community and connecting with external networks such as local churches and councils; and contributing to functions and school events. 50% of the finances needed to fund the Chaplain in the school are raised by this committee through the sale of Second-Hand Books and Second-Hand Uniform.
The sale of Second-Hand Uniforms began in 2000. Since this time it has continued to expand its turnover. It is one of the major sources of income for the Chaplaincy Program at the school.

The Booksales began in 1988, raising money to fund a Chaplain. From modest beginnings it has evolved to a busy, computerised service to help save money and to raise money – providing a major portion of the funds necessary. Run entirely by Volunteers, we are grateful for the fine help from parents, students & staff.
